Career

Tim Burbury is a partner in the Corporate Finance and Investments practice. Tim is co-deputy of Global Energy & Project Finance and Global Infrastructure. He is a member of the Firm’s AEC Committee. Tim has extensive construction and infrastructure experience. For nearly 25 years, Tim has represented sovereign wealth funds, State-owned entities, giga and master developers, energy and utility companies and strategic infrastructure clients and infrastructure funds  on their construction transactions and infrastructure & PPP projects and project financings.

Tim has led teams on many high profile infrastructure projects, including 6 of Saudi Arabia’s Vision2030 PPPs (solar, wind, desalination, wastewater); the DEWA, Sharjah and Fujairah 3 I(W)PPs in the UAE, the Saadiyat Island Mega Project in Abu Dhabi and several confidential giga projects in the Middle East.

The practice is headed up by Tim Burbury, who utilises specialisms in PPP and project finance to advise on premium transactions. Dan Feldman and Brendan Hundt bring further capabilities on the development and financing front; the two joined the firm from Shearman & Sterling LLP in January and March 2023, respectively. Associate Sam Muir combines infrastructure and construction capabilities to advise on utilities, transport and health and education developments. Saudi Arabia > Projects and energy

The corporate, finance and investments team at King & Spalding in Affiliation With the Law Office of Mohammad Al-Ammar is well-equipped to support clients on large energy infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. Some of the practice’s notable clients include NEOM, EDF and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company. Based in Abu Dhabi, Tim Burbury leads the team and is well versed in advising on bids to finance, design and operate both renewable and conventional power projects. At the associate level, Sam Muir, also based in Abu Dhabi, is a name note. In May 2023, James Clark left the firm.
