Jones Day provides the full range of services to telecoms clients, but is best known for its work with clients in the satellite industry. Group Leader Bruce Olcott has extensive experience in spectrum work, and is assisting Boeing in its development of a global non-geostationary satellite communications network, including spectrum work before the International Telecommunications Union. Olcott also acted for Eutelsat in challenging FCC proposals regarding the re-purposing of C-band spectrum for terrestrial wireless use, and also handled Eutelsat’s subsequent negotiations with other leading satellite operators connected to the FCC’s proposal. Privacy and consumer protection specialist Michael Hazzard has a strong track record in work relating to cloud communications services, and defends CallFire in consumer protection cases, particularly those involving the TCPA. In another TCPA case, Hazzard is defending Twilio against two state-level class-action lawsuits in Nevada and Tennessee. Hazzard is assisted in litigation matters by associate Kaytlin Roholt, who specializes in cases involving the TCPA. Another key recent mandate for the firm is its work for creditors of iHeart Communications, in connection with iHeart’s bankruptcy and subsequent transfer of ownership to its creditors.
