Katsumi Shirai represents clients (i.e., global financial institutions, investment funds, multinational corporations) from English and German speaking countries in downstream investments across Asia, particularly in Japan as well as upstream funding/finance structuring. He manages downstream real estate, securitization, renewable energy, infrastructure (PPP/PFI/Concession) and M&A related business transactions using a wide range of legal frameworks and strategies (including civil and criminal procedures) as well as upstream global/domestic funding structures. He also manages strategic finance investment in Japan and inbound investment structuring analyzing appropriate approach favorable to clients.

With a particular focus on downstream renewable energy projects, practice head Katsumi Shirai advises international financial institutions and investment funds and multinational corporations. The team is active in the offshore wind area and also noted a recent forward push in the geothermal space. Lukas Kratochvil has played a leading role in the group’s work on geothermal projects and his expertise spans the energy sector, including mining and the entire oil and gas value chain.
