Career

Daniel Jiménez is a senior counsel in Holland & Knight’s Mexico City office. Mr. Jiménez has more than 18 years of experience in litigation processes and public procurement as well as commercial, administrative, civil, criminal law and arbitration procedures, in both the private and public sector.

Mr. Jiménez focuses his practice on commercial, civil and administrative law, dealing with commercial disputes, void contracts, drafting and enforcement of warranties, controversial public bids of assets and services, public construction, damages and public servants liability. He also has experience in breach of faith and robbery complaints.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Jiménez worked in the public sector where he was in charge of the Special Litigation Unit at the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (Federal Commission of Electricity); he also was the director of the litigation office at Luz y Fuerza del Centro (Central Light and Power). In both positions, Mr. Jiménez was involved in energy matters such as public bids, government purchasing, leasing and contracting of services, public works, class actions, fraud, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and administrative liability of the public employees. Also, he co-founded his own law firm, concentrating on civil and criminal law, commercial law and contracts, family law and estate planning.

Mr. Jiménez has provided counsel to companies including manufacturers and service providers in telecommunications, construction, tourism services, marketing, energy, transportation and business chambers. He has extensive knowledge and experience in  litigation matters, including cases before local and federal courts throughout Mexico; notably, he is also adept at proactive planning for clients to avoid costly litigation and disputes.
