Career

James’ practice focuses primarily on the litigation and arbitration of high-value, technical disputes for clients operating in the shipping, offshore oil and gas and energy sectors. He has extensive expertise in pursuing and defending claims in the various divisions of the English High Court, including the Commercial Court, as well as by way of arbitration pursuant to arbitral rules such as those of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), as well as the UNCITRAL rules and those of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. His practice usually involves the conduct and management of disputes with ‘cross-border’ elements. James also has experience of obtaining orders (including freezing orders) from the English court in support of both domestic and foreign court or arbitral proceedings. James regularly lectures and provides seminars on current issues relating to dispute resolution. In addition, a number of his articles have been published including in Lloyd’s List and The Construction Law Journal.
