Career

Simon is regarded internationally as one of London’s most experienced maritime lawyers. He has an extensive reputation in shipbuilding and offshore procurement matters. As the author of the first four editions of the leading textbook ‘The Law of Shipbuilding Contracts’ published by Informa Law Library –and a co-author of the fifth edition published in 2019, Simon is highly regarded under English law on marine construction. He has received several nominations as a leading expert in his field, including being cited as an expert in each edition of ‘The World’s Leading Shipping and Maritime Lawyers’ since 1998 and as one of the ‘top five’ maritime lawyers in the UK in the ‘Guide to the Best of the Best’. Simon works on a range of shipbuilding and offshore issues, including contracts for the construction and employment of FSOs and FPSOs, and is also a contributing author to ‘Force Majeure and Frustration of Contract’, and ‘Ship Building, Sale & Finance’ also published by Informa Law Library.
