Position

Ed Lukins is a partner in Cooley's London office with experience in all areas of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. He joined the firm in 2015, and helped to open the London office. His clients include public and private companies, private equity houses, entrepreneurs and banks. Whilst a sectorial generalist he has specific knowledge of technology, media and natural resources markets and works extensively on cross-border and international transactions, both transatlantic and across the EMEA region.

Transactions have taken him to many of the African states including Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Botswana and Tanzania. Working for clients with interests in the region including telecoms, technology, forestry and natural resources, he is focused on maintaining a working relationship with local counsel to deliver high quality solutions to clients whatever the challenges.

Ed has a focus on M&A activity (public and private), corporate finance and strategic ventures. He frequently advises management teams and investors on management buy-ins, buy-outs, and equity packages. He also advises companies through all the stages of their life cycle including seed and subsequent fundings, exits (including flotation and trade sales), public to privates and institutional buyouts. In the UK, Ed has advised on farm-in arrangements, joint ventures and collaboration arrangements.

 

Career

Ed began his legal career with Norton Rose and was a partner with Simmons & Simmons before joining Morrison & Foerster, where he spent some 10 years prior to joining Cooley for the launch of the London Office. He has spoken widely on corporate finance issues and writes in a diverse range of business and academic publications. He received his LL.M in International Financial Law from Kings College in London in 1989.
