Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP was formed from a merger in April 2018 between Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP and Bryan Cave. The combined entity acts for more than 20 AIM-listed companies and it also generates a strong flow of work from intermediaries and investment banks. Richard Werner has particular experience of handling transactions involving listed funds and other investment companies. Michael Anderson and Benjamin Lee jointly lead the team, which is experienced in acting for clients in sectors such as energy and natural resources, financial services (including insurance), healthcare, infrastructure, betting and gaming, real estate and retail. Much of the work has a cross-border component, as was illustrated in 2017 when Alexander Keepin and senior associate Patrick Lilly advised Numis Securities and Hannam & Partners on a $20m fundraising for AIM and TSX-listed Avesoro Resources to part-finance its $69.5m acquisition of the Youga and Balogo gold mines in Burkina Faso. Senior associate Laura Patao-Caminas acted for Cantor Fitzgerald Europe as NOMAD and sole broker on Destiny Pharma Plc's £65.4m placing and AIM admission. Senior associate Brian Mulkerrins is another name to note. In 2017, Gareth Jones and Julian Stanier departed for Pinsent Masons LLP, while Murdoch Currie moved to Bates Wells Braithwaite.
