Cristina is a senior partner in the Capital Markets and Banking & Finance practices of the firm, with more than 20 years of experience in such practices. She built a track record in capital markets transactions that very few lawyers at seniority were able to achieve. Cristina combines a deep knowledge of capital markets regulations with a practical and deal-oriented approach which makes her one of the most notable practitioners in the capital markets practice in Brazil. She focus on equity deals and has worked on the largest IPOs and follow-on transactions involving Brazilian companies, both with listing exclusively in Brazil with selling efforts under non-registered offering abroad, and in dual listing deals (usually in NYSE or NASDAQ). Cristina was the lead partner in charge of the BRL5billion IPO of Petrobras Distribuidora S.A., one of the most important equity deals in Brazil in the last few years, taking the lead and impressing clients with her hands-on approach and a critical sense whenever any issues would come up during the preparation and execution of the transaction. Her involvement in a long-list of cross border transactions also ensured that she would build an ability to handle international clients which, combined with her impressive communication skills, makes a difference when intrincated Brazilian legal issues require risk assessments and detailed explanation education to international players involved in transactions in Brazil. Cristina has been recognized as a leading practitioner by specialized publications, including those based on market feedback only.

Pinheiro Guimarães‘ strong market position in capital markets ensured that it was involved in some of the largest listings to hit the market in 2020. This included providing advice to the underwriters, such as on the R$22bn Petrobras secondary offering, and to the issuers, including Rede D’Or São Luiz on its $2.2bn IPO. The firm’s impressive workload extends to the debt markets as well, with a similar balance of issuer and underwriter work across a range of domestic and cross-border debt products. The team is respectively led out of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro by Francisco Pinheiro Guimarães Neto and Plinio Pinheiro Guimarães Neto. They are complemented by a talented team of partners, including Ivie Moura Alves for domestic and international financings, Cristina Tomiyama for transactional and regulatory matters, and Bruno Lardosa and Paula Beatriz Carneiro Pessôa.
