A recent highlight includes acting as lead counsel to Doğan Şirketler Grubu on the $1.1bn sale of some of its media assets to Demirören. Another highlight was advising DFDS on the acquisition of 98.8% of shares of U.N. Ro-Ro from Actera and Esas for €950m. Other clients include Hitachi and Turkven Private Equity. Eren Kurşun heads the team. Duygu Turgut, who provides 'good commercial acumen and is very pleasant to work with', and Ismail Esin are also key practitioners. It advises clients on project finance, market practices and regulatory issues, recently acting for a syndicate of international and Turkish banks in a $500m and TRY720m loan to VIP Turkey Enerji for the acquisition of OMV Petrol Ofisi. Bayerische Landesbank, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg and Bank ABC are other notable clients. The team, which is ‘quick to meet deadlines with creative solutions’, is headed by Muhsin Keskin, who is ‘co-operative and business-oriented’.   • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
