Antoine De Raeve is a partner in the Brussels office of Baker McKenzie and heads Baker McKenzie's EMEA banking & finance group. Antoine's principal area of expertise is in acquisition finance, syndicated lending,real estate finance and trade finance. He represents both financial institutions and (corporate) borrowers in all types of loans and credit facilities, ranging from syndicated loans over club deals to bi-lateral agreements, almost invariably involving multi-jurisdictional collateral and guarantees.


Antoine joined Baker McKenzie in 1991 and became Partner in 2001. He heads the banking & finance practice in Belgium, and since 2017 also chairs the firm's EMEA Banking & Finance Practice Group.

Antoine is a member of the Brussels Bar and the Vlaams Pleitgenootschap, as well as of the European Association of Banking and Finance Lawyers (AEDBF/EVBFR). He is also a former Fulbright Fellow, and an honorary fellow of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation.


Antoine De Raeve has a Law Degree from Ghent University (RUG, 1990) and a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M) from Cornell University, USA (1991).

Responsive, knowledgeable and pragmatic’, Baker McKenzie CVBA/SCRL’s banking, finance and capital markets group is best known for its lender-side work, though it also counts major financial institutions among its clients. In equity capital markets, the team’s recent highlights include acting as underwriters’ counsel and as tax transactional counsel to Tinc on the €76.7m capital increase of Tinc by means of a rights offering. Its acquisition finance highlights include advising TVH Group on a facilities agreement with BNP Paribas Fortis connected to the contemplated public takeover of Lavendon Group. Antoine De Raeve, Roel Meers and Koen Vanhaerents, who heads the capital markets team, are noted.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
