Baker McKenzie provides a 'personalised service' and frequently collaborates with other departments to meet the needs of its corporate clients. The group has niche expertise in the food and film industries, and the hospital and elder care sector. An example of its heathcare work was assisting Vithas with the €300m acquisition of Nisa Hospitals. Enrique Carretero and Jorge Adell co-lead the group, in which Javier Menor and Maite Diez are also recommended.

When advising on cross-border transactions Baker McKenzie can draw on a strong international network. Abac Capital is a new client, while Apax Partners, Miura Private Equity and TA Associates have retained the firm for several years. The group advised Torreal on the €900m acquisition of a 71% stake in Aernnova Aerospace from its management and Springwater Capital. Luis Casals, Javier Menor and Jorge Adell are key advisers.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
