Position

Geoff O'Dea is a Partner in the Firm's Banking & Finance Practice Group in London. He focuses on acquisition finance, corporate lending, and restructuring and insolvency. He has worked with clients on matters involving lending products, particularly European Term Loan B, Unitranche and Bank/Bond financings, restructuring/insolvency and special situations matters. Geoff regularly advises boards, sponsors, special situations funds, creditors, debtors, insolvency practitioners and financial institutions on the insolvency aspects of their regulatory compliance.

Career

He is co-author of a leading textbook on schemes of arrangement and has contributed chapters on insolvency to other texts including Expedited Corporate Restructuring in the EU, which were published by the Oxford University Press. He also frequently lectures and participates in guest panels on restructuring matters.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
