Career

A former attorney-advisor in FERC’s Office of Administrative Law Judges, Michael brings more than 25 years of experience in regulatory, enforcement defense, compliance, and transactional matters relating to the energy and commodities markets. Michael has extensive experience representing clients in energy and commodity-related regulatory proceedings and investigation matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He regularly represents power producers, energy traders and marketers, commodities traders, financial institutions, wholesale power suppliers, and integrated energy companies with the development of regulatory compliance programs as well as represents clients in both public and non-public investigations and enforcement actions. He is likewise experienced in the regulatory facets of both the physical and financial wholesale power, natural gas, oil, and products markets, including the formation and redesign of wholesale energy markets, transmission and transportation access, capacity market development, interconnection issues, electric transmission, and natural gas pipeline line rate proceedings, and general administrative and civil litigation matters. Michael also advises clients in structured physical and financial energy transactions, project development transactions, and wholesale power and natural gas transactions.
