Career

José Luiz Braga served as Legal Advisor to the Municipal Government of Petrópolis, working in various fields of public law, especially in administrative law, public tenders, parliamentary inquiry commissions and legislative process. He has been working in Business Law for over 30 years, having worked as General Counsel at Grupo Multiplic, responsible for all legal matters involving the companies in the group (full-service bank, securities broker and distributor, financial, insurance, leasing, sales promotor, mining company, reforestation company and holding companies). Over the last 16 years, he has worked as General Counsel for Fibria Celulose S.A. (formerly Aracruz Celulose S.A.), handling matters involving corporate law, corporate governance, M&A, public offerings, business reorganization, national and international contracts and sustainability issues (environmental licensing, interests of traditional populations, certifications, asset protection, crisis management, conflict resolution, etc.). José Luiz also hosts conferences on land disputes and minority rights. José Luiz is also an assistant Professor of Commercial Law in the Faculty of Law at the Universidade Católica de Petrópolis.
