Banking and finance

Within: Banking and finance

The 'excellent team' at Machado Meyer Sendacz e Opice Advogados is valued for its 'real strength-in-depth' and its 'great partner-led service'. The comprehensive practice is widely recognised for both its premier client list -which includes domestic and multinational banks, financial institutions and insurers- and its top-level firepower in both transactional and regulatory matters. Among its headline deals, Adriano Schnur Gabriel Ferreira advised RIOgaleão Airport on a R$1.6bn long-term financing from BNDES, Banco do Brasil, Banco Bradesco, Caixa Econômica Federal and Banco Santander (Brasil) to support its expansion. On the restructuring side, the firm advised Vogel Telecom on a new credit line with Banco do Brasil of up to R$150m to repay existing debt and fund working capital - José Ribeiro do Prado Júnior and newly made-up partner Bruno Racy led that work. On the regulatory front, Eduardo Avila de Castro advised PayPal do Brasil Serviços de Pagamentos on the local regulatory aspects of the global payments giant's acquisition of iZettle. In addition, Nei Schilling Zelmanovits , who co-leads the department alongside de Castro, represented Banco Daycoval in high-profile administrative proceedings stemming from allegations of irregular practices in the collection of registration fees. The group also benefits from the senior experience of structured-finance specialist Renato Gomes Ribeiro Maggio ('a great choice for complex financing agreements'), 'excellent' project finance expert José Virgílio Lopes Enei and name partner José Roberto Opice. In 2018, the group also saw the partner promotions of Pedro Henrique Jardim, Raphael Zono and next generation lawyer Thais de Gobbi.
