Antonella Carminatti is a partner at BMA and head of the IP practice. Antonella Carminatti’s work covers all aspects of intellectual property, especially intellectual property portfolio management, transactional IP, licensing, litigation and counseling, both domestically and abroad. She is admitted to practice law in Brazil and is also licensed by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals as Special Legal Consultant.

Her experience includes developing intellectual property strategy, management of IP assets and transactions involving IP, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, industrial designs and trade dress. She works on anticounterfeiting programs and litigation of IP and related rights, such as unfair competition, domain names and trade dress cases, before the Brazilian federal and state courts, and has earned a reputation as successful litigator in IP matters. Antonella is also known for her skill in drafting and reviewing domestic and foreign license agreements involving patents, trademarks and copyrights as well as franchise, technology and software agreements.

Antonella regularly counsels clients on the selection and adoption of trademarks, how to build and enhance rights in brands, and enforcement strategies. She has assisted clients in multimillion dollar transactions involving the acquisition and divestiture of intellectual property portfolios.

A frequent participant and speaker at intellectual property seminars and meetings in Brazil and abroad, Antonella is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the ABPI – Brazilian Intellectual Property Association and of the Editorial Committee and Trade Dress Task Force of the INTA – International Trademark Association.
