Position

Associate, Helen, advises on the full range of employment matters, to include advising on TUPE, restructures, disciplinary and grievance hearings, employment tribunal claims and executive terminations. She specialises in providing advice to commercial organisations and high net worth individuals.                    


Helen also leads Browne Jacobson’s immigration team, having a particular focus on the Points Based System and UK Visas and Immigration compliance. The fact that Helen is also an employment specialist enables her to provide added-value advice on connected HR matters.

The education, retail, health and insurance sectors are all key areas of expertise for the group, which handles claims in relation to discrimination, redundancies, unfair and wrongful dismissal as well as issues regarding employee representative bodies. TUPE and whistleblowing claims, especially in the health and public sectors, are other core areas. Key figures include practice head Peter Jones, newly promoted partner Sarah Hooton, and associate Helen Taylor, who is noted for her ‘pragmatic’ advice. Recent highlights include advising Hiscox on an outsourced claims handling service relating to employment practices liability insurance claims covered by Hiscox on behalf of its policy holders. Though the caseload displays a broad matter spectrum, immigration through the points-based system and sponsorship licences form a significant portion of instructions on the business immigration side while Tier 1 and 2 visa applications make up the lion’s share in immigration work for high-net-worth individuals. Associate Helen Taylor heads the practice. Recent highlights include advising a multi-brand luxury jeweller on applications for multiple restricted certificates of sponsorship aimed at allowing the transfer from individuals in China and Taiwan.
