Robert (partner-former associate, promoted in 2016) has over 12 years’ commercial property experience and specialises in property development and strategic land transactions, but also advises on a wide range of more general commercial property matters, acting for and advising a wide range of clients including high net worth private clients, investors, developers, charities and owners of large landed and commercial estates. 

His expertise includes advising on conditional commercial property agreements, options, promotion and collaboration agreements, leases and land transfers and advising on a wide range of rural, agricultural and renewable energy property transactions. 

Advising the management team of market leading sandwich filler manufacturer Fresh-Pak Chilled Foods Limited on the acquisition of that company by Sun Capital Partners, and the subsequent reinvestment by the managers in the purchaser.

Recent experience includes:

  • Advising LDC on a £10m investment in Applied Composites group, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of engineered polymer products. Read more

  • Advising Hangar Seven Limited, one of the UK’s largest creators of imagery for retail and consumer brands, on its acquisition of the photography business of Tag Creative, part of Williams Lea.

  • Advising Attraction World Holdings Limited, the UK's leading theme park and attraction ticket specialist on its acquisition of leisure brand ‘Day out with the Kids’ for an undisclosed sum. Read more

  • Advising Mansfield District Council on the establishment and constitution of a housing development company.


Robert is also an active member of the Country Landowners Association.

Browne Jacobson LLP’s ‘knowledgeable and diligent’ team assists  individuals, corporations, trusts, charities, central government agencies and other public sector bodies with high-value land transactions and energy-related mandates, in addition to advising on regulatory and tax matters. Robert Wofinden and William Colacicchi head the team, with Richard Barlow providing key support in environmental matters. Barlow assisted the Welsh government with the issuing of a remediation notice to a landowner who had dug a pond on an area of alkaline fen, a site of significant conservation importance, thereby breaching the Environmental Impact Assessment Wales Regulations 2007. Other clients include the Belvoir Estate, Natural England and The National Trust. Catherine Rustomji’s recent arrival from DWF bolstered the group’s charity expertise.

Browne Jacobson LLP is led by charity law specialist Catherine Rustomji, who has extensive experience in governance and regulatory matters. She assisted The James Charities with the appointment of a corporate trustee and advised Age UK South Staffordshire on governance and constitutional matters. William Colacicchi is also an expert in charity law and recently advised Baron Davenport ‘s Charity on the status of permanent endowment investments and options available to the trustees.
