Position

Louise joined the firm as a senior associate at the beginning of 2017 and has a wealth of experience in all manner of property dispute work and particularly retail work.

The majority of Louise’s work has a commercial landlord and tenant bias and a particular focus on the retail sector. Her work covers all areas commonly experienced under the landlord and tenant umbrella such as lease renewals, dilapidations, service charge claims, rent review disputes, breaches of covenant claims and break notice issues. Louise also has vast experience in land and boundary disputes with cases involving the Land Registry Tribunal.

Louise’s clients include many known names such as Walgreens Boots Alliance and other retail specialists.

Experience:

  • Acting for a luxury retailer in relation to the exercise of an extremely complex and onerous break right
  • Acting for numerous large retail high street tenant retailers in relation to their lease renewal portfolios- this involves all area of work covered by the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954;
  • Advising a household brand in relation to breaches of its lease with regards to elements such as the landlord’s obligation to offer quiet enjoyment; derogation from grant and nuisance.
  • Acting for the seller of land in its dispute with the buyer in relation to the interpretation and application of an overage dispute.
  • Acting for a major property developer in a claim against it regarding Adverse Possession

Louise has been involved in several firm initiatives including high profile tenders and presenting to the RICS. Louise is a founding member of the Property Litigation Association in the East Midlands (which she co-chairs) and this arm of the PLA continues to go from strength to strength.   Networking and continuing professional development events have been hosted and seen great attendance and feedback.

Louise also regularly participates with the firm’s involvement of the Property Management Association by speaking at events held by the firm.
