Mr James Busby
Position
James specialises in banking & finance law and acts for banks, financial institutions and borrowers on a range of transactions including real estate finance, corporate acquisitions and general corporate lending.
Career
James is a banking and finance solicitor at Browne Jacobson. He specialises in all aspects of general corporate lending, acquisition finance and restructuring spanning across bilateral and syndicated debt platform structures. He advises across the stakeholder pool including borrowers, sponsors, corporates, private equity houses, institutional investors and asset managers, financiers (including alternative debt providers) and public sector bodies. James is a member of the Energy and Infrastructure team and has experience of advising on local authority and governmental clean energy and developmental infrastructure projects.
James joined the firm in 2016. He has extensive experience advising on financing transactions across a broad range of industry sectors including tech, energy, health, real estate, retail and manufacturing.
During 2021 James undertook a seven-month secondment at HSBC UK in the global bank’s London office – an experience that enables him to view transactions from both sides of the fence and consequently provide measured, balanced and targeted commercial advice.
James has published a variety of podcasts and articles on pertinent matters to the banking and financial markets and has been published in Global Risk Regulator media channels.
