Simon specialises in domestic and international banking and finance in all its forms. He has specialist expertise and experience in secured and unsecured syndicated and bilateral credit products, particularly in the real estate finance market. Simon also has significant experience in trade & export finance as well as in debt-restructuring and debt-conversion programs. These skills are complemented with an in-depth understanding of the operation of financial institutions.
During his career he has acted for a wide variety of lenders and borrowers.
On the borrower side, this has included advising one of the UK’s leading development, investment and asset management companies, in relation to the restructuring of $750million facility originally provided to acquire the largest shopping mall in Europe. At the time of the original transaction it was the largest single-asset deal in the UK. He has also acted for a client in respect of a £75million restructuring in relation to a property portfolio.
On the lender side, he has acted for The Royal Bank of Scotland plc, Barclays Bank plc, the former Bank of Scotland and other major international financial institutions on numerous financings both on a bilateral and syndicated basis.
He has previously worked for Salans, McGrigors and Stephenson Harwood where he undertook a six month secondment at The Royal Bank of Scotland plc. Simon joined Forsters in 2012 and was promoted to a Partner in April 2016.
