Career

Ben has a wealth of experience in all aspects of property litigation from high value complex litigation to day-to-day portfolio management support issues. He has particular experience in development risk management/elimination issues such as rights to light and vacant possession strategy.

He provides the full range of advisory dispute resolution/avoidance services, guiding a variety of clients through both informal solutions and the formal processes of litigation, arbitration and mediation.

Ben is a former chair of the Property Litigation Association’s Education Committee and regularly presents training sessions and seminars on Property Litigation issues.

Ben is ranked in the 2024 edition of The Legal 500 and Chambers UK Guide 2023. His team are noted by commentators as “[having] long been considered a market leader in the real estate disputes sector, well able to hold its own against the big hitting City firms.”

He qualified as a solicitor with DLA Piper’s London Property Litigation team in 2005 and joined Forsters as a Partner in 2016.

The property litigation team at Forsters LLP has recently acted on a series of complex market-leading matters before the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. The team handles a diverse range of commercial and residential disputes, particularly those regarding developments, service charge disputes and dilapidation claims. Practice head and ‘masterful litigator’ Ben Barrison has particular expertise in rights of light matters, as well as development disputes and property insolvency issues. ‘Very knowledgeable’ senior partner Natasha Rees is an expert in residential disputes and enfranchisement.
