Working from both our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, Scott advises clients in the private, public and third sector on a range of employment law issues, including matters arising throughout the whole employment relationship, from recruitment through to termination of employment.

Scott conducts regular advocacy in Employment Tribunals throughout Scotland, England and Wales for both claimant and respondent, and has represented clients to Court of Session level. Recent appearance work includes the successful defence of a constructive unfair dismissal claim in a 9 day hearing for one of Glasgow’s biggest employers.

Scott works closely with the firm’s CorporateInfrastructure & Projects and Real Estate teams in relation to the employment aspects of commercial transactions, advising particularly in relation to TUPE implications. Scott has been involved providing advice to employers in large scale transactions, including service provision changes, mergers, acquisitions and disposals, with hundreds of affected employees. In such transactions, Scott has provided strategic advice on high level exits and workforce restructure in addition to all aspects of the TUPE process.

In addition to his legal experience, Scott has also been seconded within the HR team of a multi-national employer in order to assist with large scale TUPE and collective redundancy consultation processes.

Scott regularly delivers seminars and training on employment related matters both in-house and externally to clients, including recently in relation to Modern Slavery obligations.

Scott is a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Specialist in Employment Law.
