Justin is a Counsel in Carey Olsen’s dispute resolution and litigation group in the British Virgin Islands.

Justin’s practice focuses on complex, high-value, multi-jurisdictional commercial and corporate litigation, shareholders’ disputes and insolvency litigation. He has particular experience of obtaining and opposing freezing injunctions, asset disclosure orders, receivership orders and anti-suit injunctions.

Justin also has extensive experience in obtaining and opposing winding up orders and asset enforcement orders.


Justin qualified as a barrister in England & Wales in 2003. Throughout his career at a leading set of Chambers in London, Justin developed a busy practice acting both as sole and junior counsel in very large commercially, legally and technically complex disputes and gained significant expertise in domestic and international arbitration, Commercial, Company and Technology and Construction Court litigation, adjudication and mediation. He appeared regularly in the Court of Appeal.

Justin was admitted to practice in the BVI in March 2017 when he joined Appleby. He joined Carey Olsen as Counsel in August 2019.

Carey Olsen‘s ‘experienced and responsive practice‘ covers corporate and commercial disputes, trust litigation, shareholder disputes, fraud and asset tracing issues, corporate investigations, professional negligence cases, contractual claims, and insolvency and regulatory issues. BVI litigation head Ben Mays is experienced in cross-border corporate insolvency and restructuring work, and the enforcement of securities. Counsel Justin Davis was hired from Appleby, while Tim Wright left for Bedell Cristin.

Appleby is ‘unique thanks to its thorough approach‘ and the BVI office is singled out for its shareholder dispute, trust litigation and insolvency work; it is also increasingly involved in fraud and asset tracing work, particularly issues involving Russia and the former CIS States. Andrew Willins leads the practice and recently represented the Donna Union Foundation in the enforcement of shareholder disputes-related arbitral awards. Senior associate Olwyn Barry, who has been on secondment in the firm’s Jersey office, returned to the BVI, and associate Fraser Mitchell was hired from Mishcon de Reya LLPJustin Davis departed to Carey Olsen.
