Position

Mathew Newman is a partner and joined Ogier in 2008 from international law firm DLA Piper. Mathew's practice encompasses commercial and financial litigation, with a special focus on contentious insolvency and restructuring matters, shareholder disputes and disputes involving investment schemes. Mathew also has considerable expenence in relation to more general commercial disputes involving financial services, regulatory issues and Guernsey trusts. Matthew qualified as an English solicitor in 2002 and was called as an advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey in 2011, where he has appeared regularly on a number of high-value and complex matters. He is a full member of the Insolvency Lawyers' Association, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3), INSOL International and the overseas Chancery Bar Association, and is a qualified mediator accredited by the Chartered lnstitute of Arbitrators.
