Bryon originally joined Ogier in 2005 and has previously worked at South African law firms, Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs and Deneys Reitz (now Norton Rose Fulbright).

Bryon is a Guernsey advocate, a South African attorney and an English Solicitor.

Education

Bryon holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Natal, South Africa, a Master of Laws degree from University College London and a Certificat d’Etudes Juridiques Francaises et Normandes from Universite de Caen Basse-Normandie.

Ogier’s insurance offering sits firmly in the firm’s corporate and commercial practice and has the ability to provide Guernsey-specific insurance law and regulatory advice, including on competition law’s application to the industry. Bryon Rees‘ expertise includes advising incorporated insurers on their Guernsey domiciliation exercises and the team also provides regulatory advice on the establishment and administration of captive insurance cell companies.

Bryon Rees handles a range of M&A deals, including ones featuring locally regulated businesses with global operations. Marcus Leese has restructuring expertise, as does Craig Cordle, among other work (Cordle handles competition law). Tim Clipstone joined from Maples Group in Tortola, bringing with him BVI expertise – which is also contributed by well-regarded senior associate Diana Collas.
