Richard has a broad corporate finance practise focusing on offshore property holding structures, mergers and acquisitions (public and private), IPOs, private equity structures and joint ventures.

Richard is recognised as “Very helpful, smart and creative” in Chambers UK, 2019.


Richard was admitted as an English solicitor in September 2006 after training with Ogier, having joined the firm directly following his legal studies in September 2004.


Richard received an LLB from University of Durham in 2003 and was awarded his Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with Distinction in 2004.

At the ‘proactive and commercially focused‘ Ogier, Simon Dinning provides both BVI and Jersey law advice on a range of deals, covering both real estate and corporate transactions with a number of mandates structured by way of scheme of arrangement. Raulin Amy‘s recent transactions have included natural resources deals, and Richard Daggett handles a range of work concerning UK real estate, advising a number of Korean investor clients. Matthew Shaxson, who is active in several of these areas, heads the Jersey corporate practice; the group grew at partner level following James Fox‘s arrival from Appleby in March 2020. As far as the more junior bench is concerned, Marie-Claire Fudge, who has BVI expertise, and Alexander Curry, are notable managing associates. Kevin Grové and Amy Garrod are key senior associates.

Jersey > Capital markets

Ogier‘s capital markets practice has a core focus on high-yield debt. Bruce MacNeil handles the Jersey law elements of high-yield bond issuance for purposes include private equity deals. Simon Felton and Richard Daggett are also active on TISE, handling work including the listing of funds and debt. Clients also praise Raulin Amy. The aforementioned are also supported by managing associate Alexander Curry and counsel Chula O’Donoghue, who returned from a secondment in-house at HSBC in September 2020.
