Position

Alasdair is a partner and the head of the litigation team and the international private client practice in Guernsey. He has been in practice for over 25 years and, before qualifying in Guernsey, not only practised as a barrister in England but also spent several years working in the Caribbean. He is instructed by law firms and institutional clients based worldwide and has acted for most of Guernsey’s leading fiduciaries, fund providers and banks.

Alasdair has a genuine depth of experience having handled a great variety of contentious and non-contentious matters covering most corporate, insolvency and fiduciary fields including appearing before a wide variety of courts and tribunals worldwide. He has particular expertise and established track record in conducting complex high value cross-border work both in Guernsey and the BVI.

Alasdair is also a Guernsey Notary Public.

Called 1992; chambers in Birmingham; Turks and Caicos Islands firm 1996; associate partner Cobbetts LLP (then Lee Crowder) 1999; returned to Caribbean 2002; associate partner Howes Percival LLP 2005; moved to Guernsey 2007, qualified as an advocate of the Royal Court 2010; joined Bedell Cristin as partner in the Guernsey office 2010.

The group is led by Alasdair Davidson , a commercial litigator with additional experience in professional negligence cases. Individuals in both Bedell Cristin‘s Guernsey and Jersey offices contribute to the firm’s international Caribbean expertise, regularly gaining instructions from London-based clients and law firms. Global managing partner Tim Pearce in Jersey assists a range of multinational companies and banks as well as high-net-worth individuals with BVI-related banking, finance, corporate and fund work. In the firm’s Guernsey office, Alasdair Davidson leads the litigation team and acts in a range of BVI claims encompassing contentious trust work, fraud issues, insolvencies and cross-border litigation. At associate level, the Jersey team benefits from the expertise of Philip Kendall, James Peart and senior associate Louise Hassell.
Bedell Cristin‘s office in Singapore saw notable expansion in mid-2021 with the recruitment of Joanne Verbiesen from an in-house role. Verbiesen, who is admitted in both the BVI and Cayman, adds notable contentious expertise to the office and is also a highly regarded private client expert, assisting with the establishment and management of offshore trusts and estate planning work. Kristian Wilson is also a key name in Singapore for BVI-related matters and excels in corporate and financial mandates; he counts a number of offshore finance bodies as clients.
