Frances Watson worked alongside counsel Alex Davies to oversee the merger of two investment managers to create a new entity focused on specialist lending assets. The group handled a number of market-leading disputes, such as the famous multi-jurisdictional 'Carlyle case', in which international litigation sub-team head Jeremy Wessels acted alongside Abel Lyall for the liquidators on the plaintiff side. On the trust dispute front, Wessels is representing the former trustees of the Tchenguiz discretionary trust in multiple Guernsey actions which are themselves part of a wider international net of actions. Also notable is Lyall's advice to the trustees of the St John Ambulance and Rescue Service pension scheme with regard to a multi-million-pound fiduciary breach claim filed by some of its participants following severe losses, and Christopher Edwards' advice to a major global bank with regard to a restraint order filed against one of its high-ranking executives and related questions on trust structure law. Robert Shepherd is 'very capable, logical, calm and practical' and spearheads the Guernsey team.
