Robert works for leading corporates, financial institutions and intermediaries on a wide range of corporate, structured finance and banking transactions. Robert’s practice covers corporate (including IPOs, redomiciliations, M&A, joint venture work and re-structurings); capital markets (debt and equity); exchange-traded products; and banking/finance. He acted on a number of high profile transactions in 2011 and headed the team which advised Glencore on its IPO. That IPO was one of the largest ever and resulted in Glencore being listed on both the London and Hong Kong stock exchanges. He advised: Charter International plc in 2011/2012 in relation to its $2bn acquisition by Colfax; and INEOS in 2011 on its joint venture with PetroChina, involving a US$ 1.015 investment by PetroChina. Robert also acts for ETF Securities, a major company in the exchange-traded products sector. At Mourant‘s ‘dependable and responsive’ capital markets practice, Robert Hickling handles heavyweight debt issuances by island entities, Eurobonds, the launch of exchange-traded funds and securitisations. Paul Martin also handles high-yield work, and group partner Jon Woolrich, on top of his practice in other areas, heads the firm’s listing arm and is particularly active in listing REITs on TISE. Capital markets specialist Amy Demetriou was elected to the partnership in February 2020. At Mourant, practice head Gareth Rigby‘s workload has included private equity and UK real estate deals (some of which concern social care), with James Hill also active in similar areas, with a number of mandates coming from real estate funds.
