Career

Jane is a transactional lawyer who provides advice on all types of construction and engineering projects. She is a Law Society Accredited Specialist in Construction Law and is dual qualified in Scotland and England and Wales. Jane has extensive experience of advising clients on project-wide and strategic issues, both in the public and private sectors and has acted for employers, consultants, contractors and funders (often on high profile projects of national significance).

Jane guides clients on procurement strategy and contract options; extensive use of bespoke contracts and industry standard forms (including JCT, NEC3, FIDIC, ICE etc); drafting, negotiating and assembling all forms of construction, engineering and development contracts including framework agreements, consultant appointments, development management agreements, works licences, bonds, guarantees and subcontracts (managing risk throughout the contractual chain) and advising on practical and operational aspects of contract terms.

  • Scottish planning obligations: modification and discharge – the story so far


    Planning obligations 1 (formerly agreements), which restrict or regulate the use or development of land, perform a crucial function within the planning system.
