Prior to qualifying as a solicitor in 1996, Suzie worked as a pharmacist in both NHS and Private Hospital settings.  Suzie has specialised in medical defence litigation for over 20 years, acting for both NHS Resolution and medical malpractice insurers.  She has extensive experience in all areas of clinical negligence, providing pragmatic and commercially sensible advice, running cases to trial when necessary.  Suzie has previously worked on product liability and medical device claims alongside her clinical negligence practice.

Suzie is an accredited Mediator and currently sits on the St George’s University Medical School Research Ethics Committee and the St George’s Hospital Clinical Ethics Committee, with a particular interest in End-of-Life Decision making.

Suzie joined Gordons Partnership in 2019 as a Consultant in the Healthcare Department in our Guildford Office.

Gordons Partnership 2020 Limited comes recommended as ‘a really high quality team doing complex and high value clinical negligence work for the biggest players in the defendant market’ and advises on a plethora of catastrophic injury cases. Two lawyers jointly head up the Guildford-based team: spinal and brain injury expert Charles Atkins leads in conjunction with Iain Pickering, who is vastly experienced on high value claims which typically involve catastrophic injuries and multi-party litigation. Alison Harden is similarly well-versed in clinical negligence defence, having acted on behalf of the NHS and leading medical defence organisations. Suzie McCluney  and Carla Applegate  are fellow key contacts within the department.
