Reeds Chambers

Barrister, Team Leader

Alistair is a barrister, and is based at the Oxford office of our integrated Chambers.  Although called to the Bar in 1998, Alistair practiced as a solicitor between 2002 and 2005. He then returned to independent practice at the criminal bar heading up the crime team in chambers at 13KBW, before joining Reeds in 2014.

During the course of his practice, Alistair has prosecuted and defended at the highest levels. He has appeared in countless trials for some of the most serious offences seen before the Crown Court, including murder, attempted murder, gross negligence manslaughter, conspiracy to rape, rape, fraud, death by dangerous driving, conspiracy to supply class A drugs, blackmail, and kidnap to name just a few.  He has also defended clients in Courts Martial, and made numerous appearances at the Court of Appeal.

A naturally gifted advocate, Alistair is particularly renowned for his flair in the courtroom.  He has an undeniable ability to connect with juries, no matter what the circumstances of the case he is presenting.  He skilfully conducts examination in chief and cross examination of both professional and lay witnesses, and his speeches are always presented with the utmost care and passion.
