Fenchurch Law specialises exclusively in insurance coverage.

The firm: Fenchurch Law was set up in 2010 to meet the growing demand for specialist insurance advice exclusively for brokers and policyholders. With backgrounds as brokers, claims adjusters and solicitors advising insurers, the founding partners have a unique insight into the market. As a result, the firm is increasingly seen as the ‘go-to’ law firm for brokers and policyholders with difficult or complex policy disputes. The client base continues to expand, as does their work on complex and high-profile cases.

The firm does not contain departments which deal with other areas of work, which means that policyholders and broker clients are genuinely central to the business. The firm exists for the sole purpose of serving the needs of policyholders and insurance brokers. An increasing number of leading insurance brokers retain its services on an ongoing basis, and many London market brokers refer some of their most important clients to the firm.

Some firms encourage policy holders to view the insurance market as inherently hostile. This is not Fenchurch Law’s approach.

Crucially, the firm understands the commercial relationships between policyholders, brokers, and insurers, and does everything possible to ensure that disputes are resolved in a way that strengthens and preserves the long-term value of those relationships.

Types of work undertaken For policyholders: Fenchurch Law’s lawyers are specialists in acting for policyholders in situations where an insurer has refused to provide cover. Its unique position and background within the London insurance market enables it to provide specialist coverage advice to all types of clients, in order to ensure the best possible commercial result is achieved. The firm has successfully obtained millions of pounds in insurance settlements for its clients in relation to disputes arising under numerous different types of insurance policies, including professional indemnity insurance, contractors’ all risks insurance, public liability insurance, property/material damage insurance, business interruption insurance, sports personal accident insurance and health insurance.

Insurance brokers: from its offices in the heart of the London insurance market, Fenchurch Law helps insurance brokers throughout the UK to provide an outstanding service to their policyholder clients. Insurance brokers throughout the country retain the firm as legal counsel on an ongoing basis to provide advice on coverage disputes involving their policyholder clients. The firm also advises brokers in relation to various standard form and bespoke insurance policy wordings in use in the London insurance market today.
