Daniel joined JHA as a Partner in 2015 from a leading set of chambers in Lincoln’s Inn. He is an experienced advocate and dispute resolution specialist whose practice has over the years encompassed a wide range of disputes before the English courts and in arbitration, including commercial arbitration and litigation; tax disputes; company, insolvency and restructuring disputes; investment treaty arbitration; judicial review; professional negligence and professional discipline; trusts and succession disputes; and property litigation.

Daniel’s recent experience has focused on advising on, and appearing as an advocate in, substantial domestic litigation and international arbitration proceedings concerning complex, high-value commercial disputes, often with a strong international element; investment treaty disputes; and challenges brought by multinational corporate groups to the compatibility of various aspects of the UK’s corporate tax regime with EU law.

His recent court appearances include Claimants Listed in Class 8 of the CFC & Dividend GLO v Revenue and Customs Commissioners [2019] EWHC 338 (Ch); [2019] 1 WLR 5097, Non-Test Claimants in the FII GLO v Revenue and Customs Commissioners [2019] EWHC 2014 (Ch); [2019] STC 2124, Test Claimants in the FII GLO v Revenue and Customs Commissioners [2020] UKSC 47; [2020] 3 WLR 1369, A v B [2020] EWHC 2790 (Comm), and Re Keeping Kids Company [2020] EWHC 2839 (Ch); [2021] 2 BCLC 181 and [2021] EWHC 175 (Ch). In addition to litigating at all levels of UK courts and tribunals, including the Supreme Court and the Privy Council, Daniel has been instructed in ICC, ICSID, LCIA, LMAA and ad hoc arbitrations and in FIDIC dispute adjudication board proceedings. He is also an experienced mediation advocate.
