Position

Tom Double acts for both claimants and defendants in defamation, privacy, data protection and harassment actions.   He has acted for a wide range of clients, including celebrities, politicians, large companies and other lawyers.

In recent years, Tom has focused on acting particularly for defendants and recent successes have included acting for three Aviva corporate entities in their application to strike out a 1.2M claim brought by a personal medical injury expert for (i) defamation, (ii) malicious falsehood, (iii) conspiracy to injure, (iii) lawful means conspiracy, (iv) unlawful means conspiracy and (v) inducing breach of contract (Jabbar & Anor v Aviva Insurance UK Ltd & Anor [2022] EWHC 1383).  He also acted for the University of Warwick and Exeter Mosque in their recent successful summary judgment applications in respect of defamation claims brought against them.
