Maurice Sheridan has been a practising Barrister based in London since 1990. He advises on a wide range of issues regarding the operation of EU law including EU constitutional law; the correct implementation and operation of EU law in domestic administrations, courts and tribunals; the EU duties of public bodies; the free movement of goods; agricultural law; the commercial agents directive; public procurement; environmental aspects of state aid; and widely on environmental law and policy.
In relation specifically to the environmental sector, Maurice has advised extensively on areas including water law, wastewater law, waste management, air pollution, the Habitats Directive, the EIA Directive, the Renewables Directive and the Industrial Emissions Directive. He is noted within these areas as a specialist with ease in dealing with technically complex matters. He has been identified as an environmental lawyer with sound commercial understanding and strategic thinking, and has acted in commercial environmental disputes involving waste management contracts, PFI contracts and warranty issues in national administrative and commercial courts and arbitrations.
His clients have included the European Commission, the EIB, the EBRD, EU Member States, international and national corporations, NGOs and individuals, including before national courts and arbitrations and before the CJEU.
