Founding member of Noble Solicitors. Managing director of Noble Solicitors and head of complex crime unit – VHCC. Higher court advocate, duty solicitor and supervisor of Serious Fraud Panel. Solicitors Association of Higher Court Advocates (SAHCA). In November 2013 Paul was awarded the Criminal Lawyer Of The Year at the SAL awards ceremony held at Lancaster Hotel in London. Dealing with crime with an international practice, comprising extensive advocacy and advisory experience on behalf of private and publically funded clients both here and abroad, in business and general crime, corrupt practices, contract crime, serious fraud and regulatory matters. Particular emphasises on confiscation matters. Notable cases: R v P – nationally reported case where lottery winner who won £5m went on to fraudulently claim benefits. Noble Solicitors led by Paul Millan who was the advocate and prepared client defence. The matter was passed to the court of appeal; R v B – acted for defendant in a multi-handed murder indictment. Noble Solicitors led by Baljit Tank and Paul Millan prepared client defence; R v D – multi-million pound DVD counterfeit; R v B – high profile nationally reported body parts ‘jigsaw’ murder case and perverting the course of justice; R v S – obtaining monies from investors in North America and failing to satisfy orders, involved the Serious Fraud Office; R v P – multi-million pound money laundering claim involving powerful government officials in Nigeria cross juridical fraud; R v U – eminent scholar with significant political connections in Nigeria; R v MP – murder trial – gangland murders; R v JS – multi-handed defence of slavery and people trafficking; R v W – rape case involving attorney generals office as a leading case and nationally reported due to leniency of sentence. Matter ultimately dealt with in the Court of Appeal; R v N – acted for defendants in pharmaceutical drugs fraud cases where estimated losses are in excess of £2bn and successfully appealing conviction in the Court of Appeal. R v Gaffney – Conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office. All linked to Operation Elveden, Client and others involved in the selling of information to journalists about a high-profile prisoner. Convicted after trial, but conviction quashed on appeal.

The team at Noble Solicitors handles a broad range of criminal defence work including complex fraud and money laundering offences. It acted for the defendants in respect of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering charges where the defendants were alleged to have fraudulently sold carbon credits causing investors to lose millions of pounds over a number of years. It also acted for a number of defendants in a case concerning charges of conspiracy to reduce the tax liability of several companies by issuing dummy invoices for salaries through a third company, where charges had been brought following a large-scale investigation by HMRC. Paul Millan heads the practice and Parm Sidhu and David Noble are other key practitioners.

The team, which acts for legally aided and privately funded clients, handles cases ranging from motoring offences to high-profile murders, sexual offences and other violent crimes. The team is also able to draw on its wider family and childcare expertise where family disputes and mental health issues are involved. Paul Millan heads the department and David Noble and Parm Sidhu are other core team members.
