Career

Victoria is a Partner.  She was called to the Bar in 2007 as a member of Inner Temple and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. 

From 2004, she worked in-house for private clients specialising in civil litigation, land law, insolvency, and mortgage fraud in connection with the well-known Lexi Holdings litigation. 

Since joining Janes in 2010 Victoria has successfully defended a number of high profile cases:  R –v- Goodman – ICAP broker acquitted of rigging the LIBOR benchmark; R –v- Westwood – no evidence offered against former Tremeloes guitarist;  R v Grillo and Grillo – two former personal assistants of Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson acquitted of a £685,000 fraud, a case which attracted unpredicted world media coverage.  Victoria has effectively negotiated a number of high value civil settlements in complex cases and where clients have been subject to Worldwide Freezing Orders. She acted for a lead defendant in a highly contested £56 million confiscation dubbed the ‘Tescos’ of cannabis smuggling. 

Victoria is currently representing a client in Operation Amazon, the largest ever multi-handed HMRC indirect taxation prosecution and several senior executives of Rolls Royce in the SFO bribery and corruption investigations, as well as opposing an appeal on the interpretation of dishonest assistance.

Victoria has developed a strong client base in serious and complex fraud, financial crime, taxation, money laundering, restraint orders and high value confiscation, cash forfeiture and general crime.

Victoria is known for her tenacious determination, logical case preparation and excellent client care.
