Types of work undertaken: Corporate: the team acts for businesses across a wide range of sectors and has developed particular expertise in freight and  logistics, software and telecoms, manufacturing, motorsport and healthcare. The team’s main focus lies in mergers and acquisitions (including joint ventures and private equity), corporate advisory work (including directors’ duties, corporate restructures and business formations), and work with partnerships and LLPs.

Commercial contracts: the team’s expert lawyers regularly draft pre-contractual agreements, including heads of terms and confidentiality agreements. They are experienced in reviewing existing documentation to ensure they are up to date and fully compliant. Clients range from household names to owner-managed business in a vast number of sectors, including construction, engineering, IT and professional services.

Commercial litigation and dispute resolution: the team has lawyers with expertise in contract disputes, construction dispute, professional negligence, contentious probate, IT and software disputes and disputes involving directors, shareholders and partners. The team have the commercial and strategic experience to guide the client through the process with as little disruption and cost to their business as possible.

Real Estate and Development: the team has broad experience across most commercial property areas, including offices, shops, hotels, commercial units, development sites and loan security, as well as development land acquisition and site set up, hotel acquisition and sales. Key areas of work include general commercial leases, property acquisition and sale, development work and securitisation and option agreements.

Employment: the team offers advice across the full breadth of contentious and non-contentious employment law issues. Specific areas of expertise include outsourcing and other TUPE issues, enforcing and contesting restrictive covenants, and defending discrimination and whistleblowing claims. The team regularly assists businesses in the drafting and reviewing of employment contracts, policies and procedures, and the compliance of legislation and regulations.

Child care: the publicly funded family team is renowned for its expertise in complex child care cases. The team provide children, parents, extended family and guardians with support and expertise on all aspects of Care Proceedings and public law matters. The department has also handled a number of cases with foreign/immigration elements.

Criminal defence: the team handles predominantly privately funded criminal defence matters. The team has a strong white-collar crime, fraud and business investigations offering and has built up a client-base that includes a number of multinational organisations.

Family and divorce: expertise range includes complex divorce cases, prenuptial, postnuptial and cohabitation agreements and mediation. The team’s lawyers regularly handle cases of a financial high-stake nature or those involving children.

Personal injury and serious injury: has specialist expertise in personal and serious injury, including head and brain injury, spinal injury, medical and clinical negligence, military accidents, road traffic accidents and employer liability.

Residential property: deals with a wide range of property matters, including sales and purchases of high-value freehold and leasehold properties, remortgages, lease extensions and enfranchisement projects, plot sales for major national developers, buy-to-let mortgages, transfers of equity, and title rectification projects.

Wills, trusts and probate: the team are experienced in dealing with tax and estate planning, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trust formation and Court of Protection matters. They regularly handle high-value probates for both UK and overseas clients. Members of the team are accredited with STEP.
