Work Department

I have particular interest in advising on the financial implications of starting a new relationship and on ending a relationship. I have particular expertise in dealing with the impact of family breakups on children.

I have many years experience in representing clients in private law proceedings. This includes considering where a child should live and how much time they should spend with each parent. Applications can also include preventing one parent from taking a step where an agreement cannot be reached such as moving out of the country (Prohibited Steps) and Specific Issue Orders where the court is asked to make a decision on a specific matter where the parents are unable to agree.

I am a trustee of the Grandparents Association. I have been a trustee since 2011. The charity assists grandparents who care for their grandchildren on a full time basis to those whose contact has been stopped. I often advise grandparents on the issues arising through my work and also on the financial aspects of protecting monies that they seek to invest in their children’s and grandchildren’s properties.

I qualified as a Solicitor in 2007. I worked for a firm in Hertfordshire completing all aspects of family work. I joined Birkett Long in September 2015.

I am also Collaboratively trained which is a relatively new option for client’s to resolve financial disputes which involves both parties sitting in a room with their respective lawyers at roundtable meetings with us all agreeing to work together without recourse to court. This can be a very effective way of settling disputes as it places client’s in the driving seat with more control over the process.

I am a member of Resolution which is a national organisation of family lawyers committed to the constructive and resolution of family disputes. I am an accredited Resolution Specialist in Finances and Children disputes and I am on the Law Society’s Advanced Family Law Panel.

I graduated from Warwick University in 2003 after studying Law and Sociology. I went on to study the LPC at the College of Law where I gained a Distinction.
