Partner, Head of Commercial
Ian is a Partner in the Corporate team, where he leads the firm’s growing Commercial Services practice. Ian and his team help businesses protect their interests, deal with day-to-day legal challenges and understand the legal and regulatory environments in which they work. He has particular expertise in charities law, data protection and intellectual property matters, and advises a number of prominent national organisations in these areas.
Also a restructuring and insolvency lawyer, Ian holds the R3 Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency and gives clients the benefit of over 16 years of experience advising office holders, secured and unsecured creditors, directors of insolvent companies, and businesses. Ian has multi-jurisdictional experience, having formerly been a corporate bankruptcy lawyer with a leading firm in the United States, practising in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Ian has a passion for law and a remarkable ability to understand complex legal problems, immersing himself into the complexities of a case and using his experience to provide practical solutions for clients.
He thrives on helping businesses resolve their legal problems, understand what the law requires from them, and put together practical, usable commercial agreements which provide them with the legal protection they need to grow.
PDT Solicitors has extensive experience of advising media, technology and healthcare clients on M&A transactions and asset-based lending, with an increasing focus on data protection work and commercial contracts. Noel Ruddy, who leads the practice in Horsham, has particular expertise in finance matters. Ian Lindley heads the commercial team with considerable experience handling GDPR, IP and insolvency matters, while Rebecca Glazebrook is skilled in corporate finance matters.
With William Angas and Dawn Shadwell at the helm, PDT Solicitors‘ team serves as a one-stop-shop for advice on administrations, liquidations, voluntary arrangements and fixed-charge receiverships. Elsewhere, restructurings and refinancings are other key pillars of activity and the firm’s historical strength in asset-based lending and invoice finance dovetails with its insolvency work. In addition, contentious work is another mainstay of the practice; this includes cases concerning directors’ misfeasance, wrongful and fraudulent trading, and antecedent transactions. Ian Lindley, Craig Burton and Ben Ashworth are also recommended.
