Lucy has over 15 years’ experience in City and in-house roles specialising in commercial real estate.  Prior to joining DJB, Lucy was the Head of Commercial Property at the National Lottery Community Fund.

Lucy has a wide range of experience acting for investors on acquisitions and disposals of multi occupied premises, acting for both landlords and tenants on a variety of management matters, dealing with property finance and real estate aspects of corporate support.

In addition to private sector expertise, , Lucy has extensive experience of grant management and securities in the context of public sector funding, and has also worked in the field of human rights case law and death penalty abolition policy and campaign work.

Beyond her professional career, Lucy has spent six months on the Independent Monitoring Board at Rochester Prison, involving weekly visits to the prison to ensure that appropriate process is followed, discussing issues with prisoners themselves, attending adjudications, producing daily reports and attending regular meetings with the prison governor.

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights include:

  • Head of Commercial Property at the National Lottery Community Fund taking multi-asset fixed and floating securities over government-funded development projects and managing the office portfolios for both the Fund itself and the Arts Council of England.

  • Undertaking the management of multiple investment properties on behalf of The Crown Estate including the grant of numerous consents to head tenants to underlet, to permit undertenants to carry out alterations to investment properties, granting both long leasehold interests and short-term leases along with taking rent deposits, agreeing lease variations and granting consent to assignments.

  • Acting on the acquisition of a leasehold interest of a high-profile central London property valued at £34m subject to numerous mixed use occupational tenancies, involving managing a team of fee earners to complete the due diligence process and report on the head title and the occupational interests.

  • Acting for a large corporate developer in relation to the retail aspects of high-profile redevelopment sites in London including drafting complex turnover rent provisions and carrying out intensive negotiations for pre-lets with anchor tenants.
