Position

Neil is a partner in the Film & TV group. Neil advises on all aspects of film and television production, finance and distribution. Neil advises film producers such as Bedlam Productions (producers of “The King’s Speech“) and DA Productions (producer of “Dad’s Army” feature film). Neil also advises TV production companies such as Eleven, Mammoth and Eleventh Hour. He also advises games giant Ubisoft, broadcasters such as Channel 4 and ZDF and distributors such as BBC worldwide.   Neil co-heads the firm’s media finance practice advising a range of banks and funds and is described in Legal 500 as an “expert and leader in the media finance field”.

Career

Trained at Richards Butler (now Reed Smith), qualified 1998. Richard Butler Associate 1998 to 2006 and Partner 2006 to 2011. Made partner in present firm 2011.

Charles Moore and Neil Gillard, both of whom specialise in all aspects of film and television production, finance and distribution, head up the division at Wiggin LLP alongside media finance expert David Quli, a regular advisor to banks, funds and companies on loans and investments. The team is the first port of call to various corporate giants, such as Disney, Netflix and Universal, in addition to prominent UK broadcasters, independent producers, financiers and distributors. Decoding the UK entertainment sector for US studios is a particular strength for Chris Hammond. Gráinne McKenna and Alexander Lea are also recommended for their all-inclusive film and television expertise. Sean James brings decades of experience in content distribution and transmission, while consultant partner Medwyn Jones is another hugely experienced television production expert.
