Emlyn has a market-leading reputation in the healthcare sector for which he is lead partner across the national employment team. Emlyn also heads up the healthcare commercial team nationally, coordinating the commercial services across the firm’s healthcare clients. Experienced advocate in both the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal. Specialises in all aspects of employment law but has a particular interest in the following areas: equal pay, discrimination issues and TUPE. Significant reputation in the healthcare sector, particularly NHS work, but clients also include other public sector bodies, registered providers (housing), charities and private businesses of various sizes. Also has a reputation as an innovative and entertaining training provider and regularly undertakes bespoke in-house training for various bodies including NHS Trusts, ACAS, CIPD and CMI.


Joined Mace & Jones 1990; partner 2000 (merged with Weightmans May 2011). Appointed chair of employment law committee of Liverpool Law Society 2004; became president of the Liverpool Law Society in 2014; appointed to general committee of Liverpool Law Society 2004; sits on the North West Employment Tribunal Users Group and is heavily involved in the Merseyside Employment Relations Forum which he helped to launch together with ACAS and LJMU in 2006. Emlyn has written, lectured and provided training extensively on employment law and HR issues. He is a regular speaker at Jordans Conferences.

Weightmans LLP has a large team with a number of standout individuals, including Stuart Jones, who has particular expertise in TUPE, reorganisations and collective issues. Mark Hatfield  predominantly advises employers on all aspects of employment and discrimination law. Emlyn Williams  is a ‘strong advocate’ in both the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeals Tribunal. The team has considerable strength in the public and private sectors with particular expertise in social housing and the healthcare sectors. The department acts for a significant number of major registered providers in the North West and other clients include White Stuff, National Museums Liverpool, Swissport and The Ombudsman Services Limited. Steve Peacock is leading the advice to Royal Mail in the forthcoming high profile proceedings in the Supreme Court. In other major matter. Mark Leach  led the successful defence for The Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS of 13 different claims for whistleblowing.
