Patricia specialises in finance law specifically funds, banking and security work, including European structured finance. She provides advice on all aspects of finance law including co-ordinating funding to private and public bodies. Her work includes structured finance and advising in respect of the establishment of funding vehicles and the provision of facilities to those entities. Notable clients/transactions include: ¬£140m Birmingham Joint European Resources for Micro to Medium Enterprises programme (‚ÄėJEREMIE‚Äô) ‚Äď this is a European Financial Engineering Instrument established to fund SME‚Äôs throughout the West Midlands; advisor to a southern university on the establishment of a ¬£40m European Regional Development Fund legacy fund project; lead advisor to ¬£155m North West Fund; Patricia advised on the establishment of this fund, including negotiating the multimillion loan agreement with European Investment Bank and the multimillion Grant Agreement with European Regional Development Fund; securing work from local authorities in respect of regional growth fund, growing places fund and mayoral funds, including Liverpool City Council and Manchester City Council; advising Bibby Line Group on the receipt of a ¬£30m facility; advising Bibby Athena on receipt of an ‚ā¨8m ship finance package; advising a multi national company on receipt of a ‚ā¨100,000,000 multi-currency, multi-option syndicated facility.

Weightmans LLP’s corporate team is noted for its private M&A practice, acting for mid-sized corporates and owner-managed businesses, while the 'brilliant' commercial team has experienced growth in advising on compliance with data protection and competition regulations. Patricia Grinyerl advised Enterprise Loans East Midlands on the establishment of a sub fund to the Midlands Engine Investment Fund and Roland Hutchins advised Greif U.S. Holdings on a reorganisation of its international group structure to relocate its European hub from Belgium to England. Gary Jones acted for Cawood Scientific Group on a secondary management buyout to Inflexion. Kieran Donovan advised Alliance Fund Managers as agent for Maven Capital Partners LLP, manager of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund for Equity in the North West (NPIF), on the first wave of equity investments from that fund. On the commercial side, Sean Crotty advises the Motor Insurers’ Bureau on the IT aspects and data sharing arrangements between it and the DVLA in relation to the MyLicence Project and Laurence Pritchard is advising Tesco Insurance on the outsourcing of its claims operations to Ageas Retail. Managing partner John Schorah is also noted, as is Sarah Walton , who heads the team.

Weightmans LLP is highly regarded for its experience in public sector funding mandates and highlights included providing funding advice to Blue Sky Corporate Finance in connection with the Midlands Engine Investment Fund and advising FRP Advisory on the restructuring of investments from a subfund of the European NWF Fund. The team also advised AIB Bank on the £5m financing of two hotels in the North West and acted for Progressive Living on all aspects of funding for its development of a key site at Angel Square Manchester. Liverpool-based Patricia Grinyer heads the firm’s finance team and is noted for her experience in the establishment of European Funds and advises banks and borrowers on bilateral and syndicated facilities.
