 Kirsten qualified as a solicitor in 2016, and joined Weightmans in January 2019. Kirsten is also an accredited Civil and Commercial mediator, and is about to start working towards her Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners qualification. Since joining the firm, Kirsten has assisted senior members of the team with complex estate planning matters involving issues of domicile, residency, planning for overseas individuals and planning for individual business owners. As well as assisting senior members of the team, Kirsten undertakes her own estate planning matters for High Net Worth clients and is confident protecting wealth from creditors, divorce and other third parties. She often works with individuals to mitigate inheritance tax, ensure the succession of their estates and advises on care home fee planning. Kirsten has experience working with individual business owners and is able to advise on the use of cross-option agreements and trusts to achieve their aims. Where appropriate, she will liaise with members of the corporate and property team to ensure full and comprehensive advice is provided. Having personal connections to the farming community, Kirsten has a particular interest in landed estates and succession of agricultural property. As such, she is undertaking specific training in this particular area of estate planning to hone her skills.Kirsten also enjoys working with individuals and corporate entities to consider methods of charitable giving. Kirsten has experience advising on the best vehicle for making charitable donations, whether through gifts in a Will, or through the creation and administration Charitable Trusts. Kirsten has experience making Cy- Pres applications to the Charity Commission and is confident negotiating with the Charity Commission around these applications. Kirsten is also experienced in administering charitable legacies and ensuring all compliance is undertaken when administering an estate with charitable beneficiaries.Kirsten also advises on the administration of estates and has experience with post-death planning. Kirsten works alongside financial advisors, and is able to advise Trustees on the mitigation of capital gains tax, inheritance tax and charges to income tax to ensure that estate and trust funds are maximised.
