Philip Nicholas
Position
Philip is currently a principal associate in the Manchester Large Loss team with over 10 years’ experience in dealing with motor claims. Prior to working in his current role, Philip worked in the commercial insurance team handling a variety of employers’ liability, public liability, product liability and stress claims.
As a member of the large loss team, Philip has considerable experience dealing with cases with complicated indemnity issues and liability disputes. Philip in particular acts for the firm’s key clients dealing with complex orthopaedic cases, in addition to cases with complicating factors, mild traumatic brain injury, and chronic pain. He is well known for pro-active, commercial and pragmatic approach to claims, to ensure optimal resolution at the earliest possible opportunity.
Philip is a member of the vulnerable road users’ group within Weightmans, and is the motorcycle lead. He also has specific interest in cycling, e-bikes and e-scooters, and has written numerous articles for internal and external publication, and has also provided numerous training seminars and presentations internally, and to external clients. He is also a member of the firm’s internal advocacy unit, and regularly conducts case management and procedural hearings, and interlocutory applications.
Outside of work Philip is a keen golfer and wine enthusiast, with a WSET level 2 qualification.
