Career

Quentin joined Birketts in 2012 and is a Partner in our Commercial and Technology Team.

He advises clients on a wide range of commercial and intellectual property matters, including research and development agreements, distribution and agency contracts, IP licensing, joint ventures, supplies of goods and services, software licensing and maintenance agreements, and software as a service arrangements. In addition Quentin also advises early stage technology clients in relation to business angel and venture capital funding, as well as share option arrangements.

Quentin’s practice focuses particularly on the digital and life sciences sectors, with a considerable amount of his work involving cross border transactions.

Education

Quentin is dual qualified, in New Zealand and England, and previously worked for one of New Zealand’s largest law firms. He holds a BA, LLB, LLM (Hons) all from Victoria University, Wellington, NZ and a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Bristol.

Birketts LLP‘s IT practice has particular focus on the financial services, social media, security software and aerospace industries, reflecting a roster of clients that includes property investment software developer Coyote Group Limited, and automotive software developer Eatron Limited. The commercial and technology group is co-led by Quentin Golder and Andrew Priest in Cambridge, along with Mark Gipson in Ipswich and up-and-coming partner Paul Palik in Norwich. Golder advised Eatron on contracts with Chinese and Japanese car parts manufacturers for the licence of software tools as part of the supply chain for various multinational automotive manufacturers.
